Saint Josephine Bakhita Print part of the Mercy Project Collection

$20.00

Shipping to United States: $3.00

St. Josephine Bakhita is the patron saint for victims of human trafficking. Enslaved herself in the Sudan, she suffered cruelly in the hands of most of her “owners,” until one took her back to Italy with them. It was there she took refuge in a convent and was eventually freed. She saw her captivity as a blessing - without it, she would not have met the Lord. What a profound and radical love of God, and beautiful example for us to seek out the Lord in the middle of our suffering.

Over $150 BILLION dollars are made each year through the use of slaves - yes, as in now. An estimated 40 million people are currently enslaved, the large majority being women and children. As part of my growing Mercy Project collection, $5.00 from every sale of this print will be donated to The Polaris Project. Polaris "uses data-driven strategies to prevent and disrupt human trafficking" and runs the Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline. You can learn more about them at http://www.polarisproject.org.
