I never thought I would end up in Texas. In fact, for much of my childhood, my family actively avoided moving to Texas for my dad's job. So color me surprised when I ended up there for graduate school after my dad passed away. God laughed. While I only spent two years there (because: HOT!), there are a couple of things that made a lasting impression. One, the mix of grit and kindness in the people. I mean sure, there's still some crazies, but they're everywhere. Second, the wildflowers - such beautiful colors popping up alongside the road as I drove in to College Station/Bryan every time I came back from a trip.
The people of Houston and surrounding communities are currently facing severe devastation after Hurricane Harvey. I created this print with a desire to share a word of encouragement and highlight the beauty of the wildflowers that demonstrate the spirit of the people I met.
